Lip Blushing 101:
What is Lip Blush and how does it work?
Lips are a main focal point; just like eyebrows of course! Very few people have perfectly symmetrical lips to begin with. As we age, lips can become thinner and lose their natural lustre and colour.
Lip Blush Tattoos, enhance the natural shape of your lips, giving them that boost of vitality and colour. It is an extremely popular, semi-permanent makeup treatment providing a flush of colour as well as defining the contours of the lip. There is a wide selection of pigments that are available to help enhance the natural lip colour as well as suit your clients preferences. These will help provide a subtle colour boost and create definition, correct medical asymmetry and even camouflage scars. The final result will resemble a subtle, matt, natural toned lipstick look.
We begin by mapping out a natural border to the lip using makeup. Once we have our client's design approval, anaesthetic cream is applied to minimize discomfort. Selected pigments are then blended and deposited into the skin with a very fine needle via a small hand held cosmetic tattoo device.
How long does it take?
Lip Blush procedures do take slightly longer than other treatments as the lips are more prone to swelling during treatment. If this should occur, swelling will quickly fade and will disappear completely within three to five days. Expect the procedure to take around an hour and a half to three hours. The colour density will appear stronger than you anticipated at first, but this will fade after three to four days.
A touchup is often required and will be booked within six to eight weeks from the initial appointment. We will book the appointment immediately after your initial session.
Lip Blush tattoos are meant to be subtle. If your client is looking for a solid lipstick look, this is not the treatment for her. Although they can look quite solid when they are first completed, they should heal to a soft, sheer, 'candy coated' tint. I love to refer to this Lip Blush style as 'Candy Lips'.
How long does lip blushing last?
Between 2 and 5 years, depending on how carefully you follow aftercare instructions and how many touch up sessions you have.
How long does it take for lip tint tattooing to heal?
It takes around 5 to 10 days for the lips heal after a lip blushing procedure. Be aware that the color will vary quite a lot during the healing process before reaching the final color that you agreed upon with your permanent makeup artist.
I have lip fillers, can I still have this done?
Yes, however, we recommend that the lip injections are at least 2 weeks apart from when you have your lip blushing procedure.
