How long does it take to heal?
The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. This is NORMAL!! And part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in.
You'll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.
What to expect during the healing process?
Day 1: You will love your brows! And for the most part, this is what they will look like after the touch-up session. But remember, the first session is meant as a foundation for the perfect brows. Your brows will need time to heal and take in the color we have planted into the skin.
Day 2-4: The scars are beginning to form, and your brows will look dark. You may even like them this color. Think of the new hair-like strokes in your brows as open wounds and now they have scarred over. A scab is thick and rough to the touch, which is exactly what is on your brows right now. There are many hair-like scabs that are beginning to form on your brows. Do not touch them or get them wet.
Day 5-7: This is when I receive the most calls from clients, panicking that their brows are falling off! RELAX, they are not falling off. The scabs are starting to flake off. Completely natural for your skin to do that. Again, these are scabs.
Day 8-10: Okay, if you did not call or text me on days 5-7, then this is when I get a call where clients are completely freaked out that their brows are gone. They will come back! Give it a few days! Your skin is going through its natural healing process and in the coming days you will see the color reappear.
Day 14-28: Between 2 weeks and up to a month after your first session, you will see that your brows' color is coming back to the surface of the skin. There will patches and areas you may want to see darker, this is also very normal. That is why a touchup is recommended.
